Michaela
Rabitsch - singer and Austria's only female top jazz
trumpet player and her ingenious partner - guitarist
Robert Pawlik are presenting jazz with catchy
melodies, strong harmonies, groovy rhythms and
adventorious improvisations in a fine balanced vocal
- instrumental mix. “Moods“ - their third common
release, is reflecting their current work - songs
out of their lives.
One seldom equates
Austria with having any significant jazz talent,
outside of Joe Zawinul, but Moods, by Michaela
Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik, proves conclusively that
jazz lives on in Austria. Moods is a superb album
and a showcase for non-American jazz, and is rapidly
becoming one of my albums of the year. (John M.
Peters, Music Watch, GB)
High Class, Sassy
Brass, that is the ever-evolving legacy of the
Rabitsch & Pawlik duet when their Moods spin you!
This is an innovative jazz disc, bright, precise,
and most of all, diabolically up tempo! Seeing this
ensemble live has to be a dynamic kick! (Karl Stober,
Jazzreview, USA)
Once melancholic - subtle,
then full of energetic power, once misterious, once
offensive - as moody as life can be. With lyrics,
directly accessed from life , they are touching with
tunes which play through all the facetes of being.
With brilliant instrumental technic and a silky
velvet voice they are clothing their songs into a
trendy, smooth - cool jazzrobe. Music for body
and soul! From Austria they come and this trumpet/guitar
led crew just might conquer the world with their
sound. (Chris Spector, Midwest Record Recap, USA)
Besides ....... the history of their Quartet
The Quartet was the first steady cooperation of
Michaela and Robert and startet late in 1997, after
some occasional gigs they played together in the
same year. At that time they emphasized the Great
American Songbook with some originals of both
leaders.
Over the years the repertoire
extended in many directions of Jazz, Latin and
Fusion
In the last years they decided to
focus especially on their own writing. Their latest
release moods reflects their current programm
which presents exclusively their original
compositions.
