Monica Borrfors,
one of Sweden´s leading ladies of jazz.
Made her debut in 1980 and achieved
a Grammy award for her first album and has been
nominated several times.
She was the leader of Monica
Borrfors Quintet for 25 years and toured in
Scandinavia and other parts of the world together
with her group.
Monica was the first Swedish
jazzsinger to perform in China 1995, and to do
jazz workshops at the Academy of Music in Beijing.
Monica
has made 10 albums and is working together with
her trio and in many other constellations.
She has, during her more than 30
years long career, performed on many international
jazz festivals around the world. There has been
numerous TV and radio appearance, both national
and international.
Monica
has a dark and smooth voice that is very well
fitted for jazz.
She has been very committed to
improve the platform for jazz musicians in Sweden,
and was also named as one of the possible
candidates to be the minister of culture, during
the former government in Sweden.
Monica has achieved many cultural
awards and has been a member of many boards
concerning music and especially jazz.
